Our goal is to finish each day knowing that we have done the job right, safely, and efficiently.  Below you will find highlights of some of the recent projects we completed at various locations across the United States.

Bonneville Power Administration

OR, WA, ID (2020). 500kV Emergency Marker Ball Replacement.

Winco and PAR Electric teamed up to complete the emergency replacement of (112) 36” marker balls for Bonneville Power at multiple locations in the Pacific Northwest. Working on a set outage schedule between June 1st and June 16th, new marker balls were placed in challenging spans, to include crossings over the Snake, Columbia, Yakima and Deschutes Rivers, I-84 and I-90 and areas of the Mt. Hood and Willamette National Forests.

Portland General Electric

Madras, Oregon (2020). 500kV. Static – Fiber.

Winco partnered with another Quanta Company, Potelco Inc, to de-clip existing insulated static, clip new optical ground wire, replace 36″ marker balls, relocate dampers, and bond insulated fiber. The job was planned for 3 weeks, but the experienced Winco aviation team and excellent coordination with our Potelco teammates ended up completing the job in 2 weeks.

O’Fallon, IL (2020). Kren to O’Fallon Porter Road OPGW Project.

PAR was awarded the project on short notice and under tight time constraints. Utilizing a Winco crew to assist, approximately 12 miles of static was replaced with OPGW, along with several structure change outs and other line maintenance during a three week outage.

Duquesne Light

Pittsburgh, PA (2020). Elrama-Mitchell Reconductor.

To avoid a considerable amount of matting in a complex right-of way, PAR Electric brought in a Winco support crew to assist in the reconductoring and re-insulating of 3.5 miles of double circuit 138kV transmission line. Using HEC, the structures were accessed by multiple crews to de-clip, splice through dead-ends, and hang travelers. Once the new wire was pulled in and sagged, crews were placed back on the structures with ladders and baker boards to clip and dead-end. Winco completed the project with the installation of marker balls over the Monongahela River.

Southwest WY (2020). Gateway West Transmission Line Project.

Winco is supporting Summit Line Construction on the construction of the new 140 mile 500kV transmission line in southwestern Wyoming. Along with wire stringing, Winco has/is providing multiple crews for insulator and traveler hanging, clipping of conductor and OPGW and bird nesting patrols/removal.
